Overcast…the not so friendly sky.

Most people wouldn’t try to photograph nature on a day with such a thick overcast. I am not like most people. Although, I would love each and every single photo I take be perfect. I am smart enough to know that is just impossible. Also, where would the fun and challenge be? On that note, I seem to have lost all sun altogether behind some rather robust clouds. Judging from the sky (with my expert meteorology skill…lol) I don’t think I will get any usable light for hours. This will end today’s excursion seeking new images for the files. Now I pull up a bench, steam some toons, and type and catalog away. I estimate this process won’t last long as the sun is hidden and WOW! is it cold out here all of the sudden with just a light breeze? Signing off…

A beautiful fall day!

It has been some time since I have just relaxed at the park with the family. Found a table in the shade and working on some photos taken before and some a few minutes ago. I have stated before and I won’t give up, I would love to live by the water in some fashion. I live in a place where a five to ten-minute drive can give me the fix but to be able to have a cup of morning caffeine overlooking this scene, would be ideal. I also enjoy the idea of taking photographs for fun! Odd concept these days but I’m a traditionalist.

If I never made another nickel of the photos I took, I would still be happy each and every time I clicked the shutter. I also know there are individuals out there with a similar mindset. There are also those who think the opposite. I never want it to be just a job. I have done things in the past that I really enjoyed and the moment that it was turned into some kind work/career, the joy seemed to slip away. That has not happened to my love for photographic art and I intend to keep it that way!

Another beautiful day!!

The birds are out of control just a bit but I haven’t witnessed any attacks as of yet. An angry goose can be a real force to deal with. A few hissed on our way in but stayed clear of the walkways. As for me, I found a nice gazebo that is semi walled in to discourage a sneak-attack…they can be sly.  I have the feeling that goose grease and my computer would not be a good mix.

Days like this are just amazing and perfect. I woke up earlier than usual which led to a very productive morning. I completed my list of things to do before lunch. I could not have been more pleased with myself. Have to give yourself a pat on the back every once in a while. It’s good for the soul. Watching the boats go in and out of the locks really makes me wonder how this idea was conceived to begin with. And if you research the topic a bit, you see everything operated by hand and with wood and stone. Today everything is automated. Just one worker who pushes the button. I’m sure there is plenty of maintenance that goes along with such a device which requires an entire crew for upkeep but I am just referring to the basic operation. There is one person in a small enclosed building running the entire show. When you stop and think about it, it’s a bit amazing.

To my earlier topic, I was not as well protected from the wildlife here as I thought. One just did a dive run under and through my table. I am grateful that I capped all the drinks. That would have ruined my day slightly…well, more than slightly to be honest. Hearing the wake of the boats traveling by hit the shore is just one of the most relaxing sounds. I would really love to live closer to the water. I will try to integrate that into my next big move. No solid timeline on that as of yet, (3-6 months) but it’s in the works.

It would be nice if summer was longer than a month and winter wasn’t seven. It never used to bother me until I became a father. Then you want better for your child than you have or have had. The definition of a parent I suppose. Oh, how I wish I could be entertained by a swing for over thirty minutes! I wonder when exactly we lose that innocent love for the little things and wish we had them at the same time…

Who says you have to work indoors?

It was too beautiful to stay inside typing for the entire day. Grabbed some drinks, food, MacBook, and the child and headed to the lake. If you must type, do it with some style!

Didn’t bring the usual arsenal of photo equipment with me either. Made due with just my phone and ingenuity. Also, thanks to the phone being a personal hotspot, I shall endeavor to be outside all season (weather permitting lol).

Sorry indoor hobbies…you may be on the back burner until another seasonal shift!! Must be careful how I say that. With the way weather patterns are around here, this could be considered as taunting the universe…and I wouldn’t want to do that.
